Iris Folding My Way

How I did this.

I must thank a wonderful talented lady for the ideas I used.

Thanks Colleen!

Using the Cricut Cartridge “Pagoda”, I cut out the lanterns.I put the actual lanterns aside to use later.

I used the spaces to build the design behind.

I think the main concept is that Iris Folding does not necessarily use just paper.

In these examples, I used washi papers plus torn mulberry paper.

I also often ink the edges of the folded papers with Krylon gold pen.

Other element to incorporate might include ribbon. lace, torn tissue paper, fabric, etc.

Use your imagination.

I call it Iris Folding with a difference because the folding does not end up creating an “Iris” like we see in vintage cameras.

Also to decrease the thickness of your project, remember the paper needs not be folded in half.Just enough to create a fold .

Other examples.
